British Council GREAT Scholarships

British Council Great Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative of the British Council and the UK Government. This program is structured to attract the brightest postgraduates worldwide to study in different universities in the UK. Great Scholarships offers UK university scholarships, in a variety of subjects, to students from 18 countries. The study grant is equal to £10,000 that you will get once you will secure the Scholarship. As part of the program, Scholarship holders will get a chance to meet all GREAT Scholars as they will be welcoming them in the first semester and then in a networking event in the second semester. 

Following is the list of countries for which they have opened the Great Britain Scholarships: 

Bangladesh, Egypt, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Turkey, Thailand, and Vietnam, Brunei, China.

Now that you have reviewed the list of universities for your country, you need to know the application process and eligibility criteria. Fairly this process is indifferent to every applicant regardless of their country of origin; however, one requirement is something to pay extra attention that you should be the resident of the country from where you are applying. 

PROCESS TO APPLY:

1. Visit the university page for more information and follow the link to the university website.
2. Apply for individual scholarships by following the instructions on each university’s scholarship web pages.
3. The deadline for applying for a BIG grant varies per institution. For more information about each institution’s deadlines, see the institution’s page.
4. Each university will notify selected scholarship recipients of the outcome of their application.
5. Individual colleges will award scholarships to successful scholarship recipients upon enrollment.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1. Have a university degree, be motivated, and have an interest in the proposed field
2. Meet the UK HEI, read more about it from here. English Language Requirements
3. Establish a relationship with the UK as an academic through personal and academic achievement.
4. Be prepared to attend a networking event of all the great British academics to discuss their experiences and gather information about studying in the UK.
5. Be prepared to keep in touch with the British Council and your HEI and act as ambassadors for AMAZING scholarships.
6. As alumni of GREAT scholarships, I am willing to occasionally chat with potential applicants about your own experience studying in the UK.
