If you’ve read our previous article covering the Erasmus+ EU Grant Program, then you probably have a little idea of what Erasmus is. For those of you who have not come across the name Erasmus, Erasmus is a scholarship program initiated by the European Union (EU) providing multiple scholarship opportunities, for admissions in European universities, to students all around the world. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees Program, more commonly known as the (EMJMD), is an integrated or joint form of multiple different scholarship programs at a higher level i.e., Masters level. The EMJMD is stretched across and offered at numerous European universities including German universities to Master’s level students around the globe.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees Program offers quite a few scholarship programs to German universities, covering a wide range of academic disciplines and subject areas for the Master’s level.   1. European Masters in Embedded Computing Systems (EMECS)

The EMECS is a two-year Master’s program designed for bachelor graduates from Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and other disciplines of the sort so they can Master the field of Embedded Computing Systems. 2. International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development (ILGSPD)

The ILGSPD program, starting from September 2022, is a full-time Master’s degree program of 24 months. This unique program makes good use of the expertise of nine European partner Higher Education institutions and a global network of 27 Associate Partners, which include international institutes, esteemed universities, research centers, NGOs, and law firms from all over the world. In this program, the students will have to spend their first term in Glasgow and their second term in Barcelona, where they will be pursuing the courses of International Law and International Relations of Global Security, Peace, and Development. In their third term, however, the students will be splitting into groups of lesser students to pursue their studies in the subjects they are interested in.

3. International Master in Innovative Medicine (IMIM)

The EMJMD IMIM program allows its participants to grow and excel in the field of translational biomedical research and industry. This double degree program, just like all other EMJMD programs, is also of 24 months duration is arranged mutually by seven exceptional university Partner Institutions. IMIM emphasizes translational medical sciences by strengthening academic-private sector relationships and incorporating Entrepreneurship & Innovation training. The three European degree-awarding partner universities are

4. International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD)

The IMRD joint MSc degree offers students a chance at learning advanced theories and strategies on agricultural policy, rural development, and economics from an international viewpoint. The IMRD has been put together by 14 universities teaching Agricultural Economics and other related subjects.

5. International Master of Science in Soils and Global Change (IMSOGLO):

The ongoing EMJMD program of International Masters of Science in Soils and Global Change (IMSOGLO) focuses on the domain of Science of Soils and Global Change. The studies conducted at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) and (UGOE) focused on the relation between globalization, rural development, and other soil-related problems, as well as how the use of sustainable land can help protect the soils and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

6. Interdisciplinary Mathematics (InterMaths):

The Interdisciplinary Mathematics program offered at the German University; Hamburg University of Technology is a recently introduced program offered till the end of the year 2026.

The InterMaths program is designed to meet the demands of the advanced research in European Enterprises (in this case German Enterprises) which offers the students to enhance their skills in the fields of Mathematical Modelling and Simulation. The EMJMD program, InterMath, is offered with a special focus on Biomedical Sciences and Industrial Engineering and helps the participants prepare for a career in Research and even Private Enterprises.

8. NOHA EMJMD Program in International Humanitarian Action

The Joint Master’s Degree Program in International Humanitarian Action is put forward for those looking to pursue their career in the area of humanitarian action. NOHA is a consolidated Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Master’s program that offers excellent education and professional competencies. NOHA includes five modules scattered across four semesters:

9. Plant Health in Sustainable Cropping Systems

Plant Health Management is increasingly becoming one of the most predominant areas to work upon. With the increasing world population and deteriorating quality of land, Plant Health in Sustainable Systems program will help educate students to master new developments and technologies in plant health management. 10. European Masters in Translational Cosmetic and Dermatological Sciences (EMOTION)

The Translational Cosmetic and Dermatological Sciences program offered by the EMJMD, EMOTION, is a two-year double degree program that trains the future R&D leaders in the dermatological and derma cosmetic field. In this program scholarships that cover tuition fees and living costs are available both for students all around the world. Courses will be taught in English and students will study in at least two of the partner universities. In the final semester, the students will have to perform their thesis work either in industry or academia.

11. International Masters of Science in Sustainable and Innovative Natural Resource Management

The SINReM cultivates a new variety of professionals focused on developing technology and engineering and re-inventing the value chain for more sustainability. Students that have graduated from SINReM have an entrepreneurial mindset and creative problem-based technology development skills. The German university TU Bergakademie Freiberg offers the SINReM program to students from all over the world, supported by a range of non-academic as well as non-European academic partners, active in mining and geo-resource exploration, chemical, environmental, and recycling technology and development of sustainable materials. 12. Erasmus Mundus Masters in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

The two-year program of Masters in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology aims to teach the students the power to work, communicate and think across the boundaries of traditional scientific disciplines. The Master’s program in Evolutionary Biology (MEME), presented by the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Program is a two-year multidisciplinary program. The focus of this program is not only on how evolution has shaped life on our planet, but most importantly how understanding the principles of evolution, can provide new awareness and insights for modern-day challenges in fields like economics, medicine, ecology, physiology, behavior, genetics/genomics, bioinformatics, agriculture, and social sciences.

The Electric Vehicle Propulsion and Control Program, also known as E-PiCo is a joint master program implemented and supported by four main European institutions. 19. Research and Innovation in Higher Education MARIHE:

The Erasmus Mundus Masters program for Research and Innovation in Higher Education in short (MARIHE) focuses on the management of higher education, research and innovation institutions. MARIHE is a four-semester Master’s program that teaches and enables the students to critically evaluate and employ managerial instruments and can turn policy advice into strategic management practice. 20. Global Markets, Local Creativities GLOCAL

GLOCAL is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree program that holds a network of four subjects that are; Economic & Social History, Business, History, and Economics, in five European and two non-European universities to provide a great interdisciplinary and international learning experience. With the help of this program, the students discover a variety of perspectives on the process and phenomenon of globalization and students with an extensive range of knowledge and forethought and interest in this subject, are able to expand their understanding of the process, impact, and responses to globalization.
